11/29/2009 - Email from Kathe Malinowski:
To: All 1979 Classmates
Fr: Your Reunion Committee

With heartfelt sorrow, we must inform you that we have lost one of our classmates. David DeGeus died on Saturday, November 28th around 12:00 noon. David had some health issues that he had been dealing with for the past few years, and was admitted to St. Joseph's Hospital, in Joliet during the 3rd week of November. He was later diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. Upon diagnosis, he was moved to Northwestern Memorial in Chicago, around November 22nd and seemed to be in recovery after a couple of days. Unfortunately, David suffered a massive stroke, with major complications, on Thanksgiving Day. His family decided not to forgo life support, and to let him go in peace. He will truly be missed by all who knew him well. We will miss his zest for life, and ability to live every moment to the fullest.

The Visitation for David will be on Monday, November 30, at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2329 Black Road, Joliet IL from 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm, and from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 1, at the First Presbyterian Church on Western Avenue, at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials in his name, to The Miracle League of Joliet, 320 Water Stone Way, Joliet, IL 60435, or Trinity Services, 100 North Gougar Road, Joliet, Il 60432.

On Monday evening, after the later visitation hours, all classmates are invited to "tip a glass" to David, at Bobby's Tap, 1107 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL (at Dawes Avenue)

Dear Fellow Classmates,
 
On behalf of the class of 1979 reunion committee, I want to thank all of you who have submitted your response and will be attending our thirty year reunion party the week of September 18th. Rest assured, you will not be disappointed. The committee has spent countless hours preparing for the event. You can expect great food, talented live entertainment, and certainly many hours of reminiscing with past friends. To date we have over 150 alumni that will be attending!
 
For those of you who have procrastinated, it is not to late to join in the reunion festivities. Simply send a check, to Cathy Conrad (Judevine).
